Activity 1: Financial Inclusion Gala at HomeNet Pakistan
HomeNet Pakistan, in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), organized an awareness session on Financial Inclusion for Women Micro-Entrepreneurs and SMEs on June 3, 2026, at the HomeNet Pakistan Head Office in Lahore. The event brought together 30 women micro-entrepreneurs from Lahore, along with representatives from SBP, Faysal Bank Limited, and Bank Alfalah Limited, to promote greater awareness of formal financial services and business financing opportunities.
The session focused on helping women entrepreneurs understand available banking services, loan and financing options, eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, and financial products tailored to micro and small businesses. Participants actively engaged in discussions and shared the challenges they face in accessing formal finance, particularly regarding collateral, markup rates, documentation, and affordability. Representatives from the participating financial institutions responded to their concerns and provided practical guidance on available opportunities.
The event highlighted the vital role of financial inclusion in strengthening women’s economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods. It also reinforced the importance of continued collaboration between HomeNet Pakistan and financial institutions to ensure that women entrepreneurs, particularly those operating small and informal businesses, have better access to appropriate and affordable financial services.
Activity 2: Round Table Dialogue on Inclusive Finance for Women Micro-Entrepreneurs
HomeNet Pakistan, in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), organized a Round Table Dialogue on “Advancing Women’s Economic Empowerment through Inclusive Finance for Women Micro-Entrepreneurs in Pakistan” on June 3, 2026, at Four Points by Sheraton, Lahore. The dialogue brought together key stakeholders, including SMEDA, GIZ, The Bank of Punjab, Faysal Bank, Bank Alfalah, HBL Microfinance Bank, Kashf Foundation, Akhuwat Foundation, Punjab Rural Support Programme, State Bank of Pakistan, government departments, development partners, civil society organizations, women workers, and women micro-entrepreneurs.
The dialogue focused on identifying barriers to women’s access to formal finance and exploring practical solutions, including simplified loan procedures, women-friendly financial products, digital and financial literacy, low-markup financing, entrepreneurship development, mentorship, and improved market linkages. Participants emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration among financial institutions, regulators, civil society, and development partners to promote inclusive and accessible financial services for women and other underserved communities. The event also highlighted the 5As of Inclusive Finance—Awareness, Availability, Affordability, Accessibility, and Adaptability—as a framework for developing financial solutions responsive to the diverse needs of women entrepreneurs. The dialogue concluded with recommendations for strengthening financial inclusion and advancing women’s economic empowerment across Pakistan.
