Dr. Janvi is a poised, social impact professional with over a decade of experience across research, strategy, and impact in the social sector. She holds a Ph.D. from Universidad de Deusto, Bilbao where she was an Erasmus scholar. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Deusto, Bilbao, Spain, where her research examined out-migration patterns, the informal labour economy, and policy implications in India. She completed her M.A in Disaster Studies from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and B.A in English from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.

Her career has spanned academia, international development, and technology consulting. She has worked with organisations including Kiva, Vera Solutions, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, and UNFPA, contributing to research, programme implementation, strategic evaluations, and institutional strengthening.

Dr. Kanakia has published on themes such as the informal economy, science diplomacy, and feminist approaches to work and labour. Her work is grounded in a strong interest in how research and evidence can inform policy and programmes.

She currently serves as Regional Coordinator at HomeNet South Asia, leading fundraising, partnerships, and organisational management.
